THE FAIRMONT MIRAMAR HOTEL & BUNGALOWS, SANTA MONICA – 30-MINUTE DRIVE

Why do we love it?

Just steps from the beach, Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade, there isn’t a more central location than The Fairmont Miramar for your overnight visit to Santa Monica. We recommend staying in one of the surf-chic modern bungalow suites which open up into the beautiful miramar gardens.

You don’t have to travel far for date night as the hotel is home to FIG restaurant (or dine in your bungalow with FIG-to-go). Chef’s menu features seasonally inspired dishes and yummy cocktails, we love the Golden Herb: 14 Patron Blanco, Celery, Dill, Agave, and Lime. If you’re not ready for the night to end take a few steps over to The Bungalow, the properties “baha chic” lounge open until 2 am every day of the week except Sundays. 

Travel Tip: We loved taking advantage of the hotel’s complimentary bikes for an early morning stroll along the 3.5-mile stretch of coastline. 

TERRANEA RESORT, RANCHO PALOS VERDES – 45 MIN DRIVE 

Why do we love it? 

If you are looking to keep socially distant but not skimp on any of the luxuries of a coastal escape, we recommend Terranea. This resort is located on 102 acres of oceanfront on the Palos Verdes Peninsula just south of LA.

There is something for everyone, whether you want to lounge by the pool, paddleboard, practice pilates, golf or enjoy treatments at the spa. 

This resort is perfect for families of all ages. The Tide Pool Kids Club makes a family vacation memorable for your little ones as well. Adventure leaders take kids on a journey through Terranea’s history using creative activities, science experiments, and locally inspired art projects. While the kids are gone for the day enjoying the club, you can finally relax without worry. 

Travel Tip: We love the Tide Pooling experience offered. On this 2-hour guided hike, led by a Terranea Activities associate, you will be able to take a close-up look at the sea life in the natural tide pools and capture wonderful photos to take home as a souvenir! 

BELMOND EL ENCANTO, SANTA BARBARA- 1.5 HOUR DRIVE

Why do we love it?

Think classic Hollywood glamour hideaway with a modern twist that offers the best views of the American Riviera. 

Belmond El Encanto opened in 1918 and has been part of Santa Barbara’s social scene ever since. Guests during the early days of Hollywood included American film icons Clark Gable and Carole Lombard.

While on the property you will enjoy romantic afternoons down to the California coast with your gourmet picnic basket, followed by movie nights under the stars with an alfresco movie screening on your private balcony.

LA QUINTA RESORT & CLUB, A WALDORF ASTORIA RESORT, PALM SPRINGS – 2-HOUR DRIVE

Why do we love it?

Everyone needs a weekend in Palm Springs every once in a while but have you visited the original desert hideaway, La Quinta Resort & Club? 

If your hubby is an avid golfer this resort is for you. In partnership with the PGA, the resort offers five unique golf courses designed by legends of the game. Yes, that means five rounds of golf for him and five days of spa treatments at Spa La Quinta for you 😉

Why do we love it?

Why do we love it?

You have been to Napa many times but you probably haven’t enjoyed this place yet.
